Diablo 4's next class is the Amazon, and she is bringing a weapon the game has never had
We spent BlizzCon looking for the next class clue. Turns out we had already visited its home.
Well, so much for our Demon Hunter theory. Blizzard has officially confirmed that the Amazon is the next class coming to Diablo 4.
It is already one of the most interesting Diablo 4 reveals from BlizzCon, but the choice also makes almost suspiciously good sense when you look at where the game is right now.
Lord of Hatred took us to Skovos, the cradle of the Askari. Blizzard even describes the region as being ruled by the Amazon Queen and Oracle Queen. We have basically been walking through Amazon territory for months.
The Amazon Is Officially Coming to Diablo 4
Blizzard confirmed the Amazon during the BlizzCon Opening Ceremony that ended just now, and included her in its official recap of the show.
Details on the Diablo 4 version of the class are still quite limited, so we do not know exactly how much of the classic Amazon will return. Her class mechanic, full skill set, and weapon options have not been explained yet. However, we do know that she will bring a new weapon type with her: the Javelin!
But if Blizzard stays close to the original class fantasy, there is a lot to work with. In Diablo 2: Resurrected, Blizzard describes the Amazon as a master of the javelin and bow, with access to spears, powerful ranged attacks, magic, and exceptional agility. Javazon and Bowazon are probably the first two words going through a lot of Diablo 2 players' heads right now, as those are some of the most played builds for this class.
That does not mean Diablo 4 will copy her old, known style directly, of course. We will have to wait for Blizzard to show us what this version can do during BlizzCon's upcoming Diablo Developer panels.
Skovos Makes the Choice Much More Interesting
The timing is really what makes the Amazon such a natural fit. Lord of Hatred brought Diablo 4 to Skovos, the homeland of the Askari. The expansion gave us Temis, more of the region's history, and an active Amazon presence in the current story. When talking about the current expansion, Blizzard often specifically calls Skovos the "cradle of the Askari."
So the Amazon is not being dropped into Diablo 4 purely because people remember throwing Lightning Fury around in Diablo 2. Her culture and homeland are already part of the game we are playing right now. In hindsight, that was a considerably larger class clue than a mysterious 1-Hand Crossbow hiding in the loot filter...
Much Is Still Unknown
Blizzard has more Diablo panels scheduled across BlizzCon 2026, including the upcoming Diablo: Developer Update later today and Diablo IV: What's Next on Sunday, so there is plenty of room for more information about what comes after Season 15.
And after spending the last few weeks guessing Demon Hunter, Witch Doctor, and pretty much everything else, we can cross one name off the list.
