Diablo 4's World Bosses have been swapped out for Moophisto. During BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard shared details on the new challenge they fittingly call "Cattle Carnage," and the whole community has until September 14 to bring him down enough times to earn a reward.
How the Moophisto Challenge Works
The goal is to kill Moophisto. Each kill adds one point to a community total Blizzard is calling the "cownter."
If you are playing Diablo 4 in Season 14 or on the Eternal Realm, you can kill him as often as you want. There is no personal cap, so every World Boss spawn gives you another chance to help.
You do not have to land the final hit either. Defeating Moophisto adds one kill to the shared total, no matter who deals the last bit of damage.
The community needs 300,000 Moophisto kills before September 14. If we get there, everyone playing during the Season of Hell's Legacy will unlock the Moomento Mori Mount Trophy.
Diablo 4's Cow Level Secret
Blizzard is interestingly secretive about the reasons behind this community challenge. The announcement blames Moophisto's arrival on a cattle-worshipping cult that summoned him to turn Sanctuary into his pasture. But it is really just Blizzard hinting at Diablo's long-running secret cow level tradition, as the name gives the joke away. From now until September 14, the global World Boss has been taken over by Moophisto—a hulking brute of cattle carnage. If players can defeat Moophisto 300,000 times to complete The Divine Bovine Community Challenge, a cow-veted reward will unlock for all players in Season of Hell’s Legacy — the Moomento Mori Mount Trophy.
Every player who participates in any Moophisto kill contributes 1 point toward his “cownter”. Contribute more points by killing him more than once. Once Moophisto's death “cownter” hits 300,000 defeats, this steer will finally be put to pasture.
Form a herd with your fellow Wanderers and strike down this mad cow. Each time he is sent back to the grass, it will eat away at his tyranny. Skim him to 1%, 2%, until you can remove him whole.
Moomento Mori Mount Trophy
The reasons surrounding Moophisto’s unannounced arrival are shrouded in “moostery”. Whispers talk of a cult with bovine inclinations who summoned him to make Sanctuary his unending pasture to violently graze upon.
