Diablo 4 Season 15 trailer brings old nightmares back

Deckard Cain is back, the Prime Evils are loose, and one strange little bear sneaks in at the end.

Blizzard revealed a new gameplay trailer for Diablo 4's upcoming Season 15, and we can see that Sanctuary's past is refusing to stay buried... quite literally. The Season of Hell's Legacy celebrates 30 years of Diablo by bringing back old bosses, locations, items, and characters from across the entire series. That, of course, includes Deckard Cain, whose lost soul will guide us through the new seasonal questline.

You can watch the full trailer below:

Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto Are Waiting

We have already covered everything that Season 15 will add, but this trailer gives us another look at some of the new features coming on September 15. For example, we get to see more details of the Waking Nightmares, encounters built around memories of major events from previous Diablo games.

During the seasonal questline, we will enter the nightmares of three Dark Wanderers and confront the Prime Evils tormenting them. What is especially cool is that we will fight the Prime Evils in their respective realms. Diablo waits beneath Tristram Cathedral, Baal returns at Arreat Summit, and Mephisto can be found inside the Durance of Hate. Defeating these echoes allows us to claim a Splinter of Evil and wield part of a Prime Evil's power, but each Splinter also makes the character more vulnerable to the Prime Evil connected to it.

Again, this is just a small detail of everything we can see in the trailer for Season 15.

Plenty of Familiar Loot is Coming Back Too

The Season of Hell's Legacy also brings back nine permanent Legacy Uniques that will remain in Diablo 4 indefinitely. These are all items inspired by previous Diablo games, such as the Stone of Jordan, Leoric's Crown, In-Geom, Nemesis Bracers, and more.

Something else we saw at the very end of the trailer was a brief appearance from the Dark Wanderbear, which is one of the rewards available through the new Season Ranks. Somehow, though, it also reminded us a bit of how we all slayed our way through Whimsydale in Diablo 3...
