Diablo 4 Crafting Guide: Every System in One Place

Diablo 4 has five different systems to help players improve and craft the best gear pieces needed for their build. This hub helps explain each system and avoid to brick good items. All the crafting systems make sense together. This page will serve as the map in directing you to the correct vendor.

Crafting Pipeline in One Look

The order can be important, so make sure you run the steps the way it is advised. Transfiguring too early can cap the item forever. Enchanting is sometimes good to do before you use the Horadric Cube.

Crafting flow shows every step in the process to craft the best item for your build: starting with drop, then enchant, add/reroll affix, add aspect, temper, add socket, masterwork and transfigure the item.

What a Finished Item Looks Like

A fully built endgame piece has, all fully masterworked to rank 25:

  • 4 equipment affixes,

  • 1 tempered affix,

  • 1 aspect power,

  • 1 transfiguration affix, and a lucky roll can grant a second transfiguration affix on top.

Greater Affixes

Players will want to target and improve items with Greater Affixes to improve their endgame.

Every system on this hub exists to fill or improve one of those slots, which is a useful check whenever you wonder what an item is still missing.

Tempering

Tempering adds one chosen affix to Legendary, Unique, and even Mythic gear. On Ancestral items, the temper can roll into a Greater Affix. Each item has limited temper charges, refillable with Scrolls of Restoration.

Masterworking

Masterworking upgrades an item's affixes up to Quality 25. It never adds new ones, and Quality cannot be reset. At rank 25, you receive a capstone bonus to an existing affix. This can be reset for a certain cost.

Enchanting

Enchanting rerolls one existing affix per item. It works on any rarity, including Uniques and Mythics. But it cannot create a Greater Affix.

Horadric Cube

The Horadric Cube is the crafting station for everything advanced: adding and removing affixes, rerolls, rune crafting, Transfiguration, and upgrading to Mythic.

Transfiguration

Transfiguration is the final, high-risk step you will take on your item. It usually locks the item permanently, so it always comes last.

Mythic Unique Crafting

Mythic crafting turns an unwanted 850+ Unique into a random Mythic of the same slot via the Cube and Pandemonium Fragments. One crafted Mythic equipped at a time; natural Mythic drops are exempt.
