Diablo 4 Season 16 could bring back Auradin with these Paladin PTR changes

Zealot also gains damage and defence, and Advance gets new support from a Unique and Talisman set.

Diablo 4 Season 16 is bringing some welcome changes to Paladin. If you enjoyed Auradin when the class first came out, you might like a few of these adjustments.

Aura Potency now increases the power of auras based on the value, including Skill Ranks.

Up until now, Aura Potency only increased the base value, so the impact was way lower when you increased the ranks of Aura Skills. But with this change, your Aura Potency will get a huge boost in power.

However, it does come with a reduced value of some Aura Potency sources to compensate.

For example, Sundered Night's Aura Potency has been reduced from 160-200% to 140-180%.

Paladins really cannot get anything for free, it seems...

Paladin Skills and Oaths Changes

When it comes to the skills themselves, there are not that many changes. The biggest one is Fortress that got hit with a heavy nerf bat. For the Resolve Damage Bonus, the bonus was reduced by 2%, and it now only applies to Juggernaut Skills. And that is a pretty bad hit for a lot of builds...

Blizzard also fixed the Duration which was not working properly before this patch:

  • When taking the Final Justice, this upgrade will now reduce Heaven's Fury's Cooldown by 4 seconds instead of increasing the duration.

Developer’s Note: Prior to this update, this upgrade did not work at all with the Final Justice Variant. Fixing it to increase the duration of the Final Justice variant would generally not be a positive upgrade since much of the damage comes from the detonation at the end. This upgrade reducing cooldown instead achieves the same goal of increasing the uptime of the skill.

And when it comes to Paladin Oaths, Zealot is the only one that got a few adjustments:

  • Damage increased from 35% to 45%.

  • Now also grants 15% Damage Reduction while at Maximum Fervor.

  • Fortify is now only granted on Zealot Skill Casts, and the value increased from 1% of Maximum Life to 5% of Maximum Life.

Paladin Aspects, Uniques, and Talisman

Only two Legendary Aspects were changed for Season 16:

  • Aspect of Jacques' Fervor

    • Previous: Each stack of Fervor increases your Critical Strike Damage by 15-20%[x].

    • Now: Each stack of Fervor drains 5 Faith per second to increase your damage by 25-30%[x].

  • Revelator's Aspect

    • Previous: Zealot Skills deal 12.5-32.5% increased damage, doubled while at 3 or more stacks of Fervor.

    • Now: Hitting enemies with Zealot Skills increases the damage they take from you by 1.4-1.8%[x], up to 70-90%[x].

Multiple Uniques got a few number changes, but two items were modified:

  • Arcadia

    • Previous: Rally Fortifies you for 6-8% of your Maximum Life. When you recover 8% of your Maximum Life, gain a charge of Rally.

    • Now: Rally converts up to 50% of your Fortify into Barrier and grants 15-25% damage reduction. Rally's Cooldown is reduced by 50%.

  • March of the Stalwart Soul

    • Previous: Advance deals 60-80% increased damage, gains 3 Skill Ranks, and travels twice as far.

    • Now: Advance deals 70-100% increased damage, cleaves in an area around you, and travels twice as far.

And finally, when it comes to Talisman sets, only one was really modified, and the rest only received a few number adjustments:

  • Cathan's Dauntless Faith

    • 2-Piece Set Bonus: Critical Strike Damage per stack of Do or Die increased from 2.5% to 3%.

    • 5-Piece Set Bonus: If Do or Die is triggered by Advance, the Afterimages will now use Advance rather than Zeal.

To this one, Blizzard added an interesting note:

Developer’s Note: These Afterimages use the skill that triggered the Do or Die stack, but previously could only use Zeal, Divine Lance, or Zenith. We are adding Advance to the options for these Afterimages to better support it as a build-around skill.

And of course, a few bugs linked to the class were also fixed. You can find the full list of changes and bug fixes inside the official patch notes:

Paladin

Aura Potency now increases the power of auras based on the value including Skill Ranks.

Developer’s Note: Previously, Aura Potency only increased the base value, meaning its impact was proportionately lower when you had high ranks of Aura Skills. This is a significant increase in power for Aura Potency, and to compensate we are slightly reducing the values of some Aura Potency sources.

    • When taking the Final Justice Variant, this upgrade will now reduce Heaven's Fury's Cooldown by 4 seconds instead of increasing the duration.
