If you are tired of hunting down demons on a digital screen, you will be happy to hear that Diablo is getting a board game!

Diablo: Unbound is an upcoming tabletop game developed by Glass Cannon Unplugged in collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment. The crowdfunding campaign is starting on Gamefound in Q1 2027.

The game will take multiple stories from the entire franchise. You will be able to choose your class, pick a dungeon, decide the monsters you will face, and take on a boss. And of course, gather some loot for the next run.

What Exactly Is Diablo: Unbound

Not everyone is a fan of board games, so let's go over some details so you can understand how cool these are.

Diablo: Unbound is a co-op tabletop game for 1 to 4 players. The age recommendation is 14+, and one run takes around 90 minutes.

Co-op board games basically mean that you are all playing together against the game itself, and not against each other. It also means you can play alone against the game if your friends are not into board games.

The idea is pretty simple. You fight through hordes of monsters, collect better gear, improve your character, and work your way toward a boss fight. That is basically the basis of this game.

There are four playable classes at launch:

Each has its own playstyle, skill tree, equipment, and progression system, so you can change your build between Acts, or get better gear along the way.

Rogue is the only one that has been detailed so far. You can chain skill cards by matching their Combo symbols to generate Combo Points, and spend those on powerful Finishers. You can switch between Marksman and Cutthroat attacks, play range or melee, or even have fun placing traps across the entire Dungeon.

When it comes to monsters, we have no details on the Bosses yet, but we know that you can pick between Khazra, demons, and undead monsters for now.

Miniatures will represent the characters and creatures, so it is not just about cards and dice.

And of course, you have your loot. You can find chests full of gear, defeat elite enemies, or complete side quests to earn rewards. Bosses offer some of the best gear, but drops are random, so you will not necessarily walk away with the item you wanted.

But do not worry. You can repeat the fights, change them, adjust the enemies, location, or your build.

Build Your Own Diablo Adventure

It is definitely not your usual board game. Each run follows three acts, with three dungeon levels per act. You will have to clear two levels with normal enemies and side quests before reaching a final boss lair.

Each dungeon comes with its own objectives and hazards. Bosses have their own lairs, abilities, and multiple combat stages.

And once you have finished an adventure, you can start another with a different combination of locations, enemies, and bosses. Want to hunt the same boss in a new dungeon? Fight a familiar location overrun by a different monster family? Try another class and build? You can do all of that.

And once you finish your first three-act adventure, you can also unlock Torment mode and the game will become more challenging.

The game uses different mechanics:

  • Deck building

  • Dice rolling

  • There is a Town Phase between Acts where you can spend resources to improve your skills, manage your equipment, and change your build

Each dungeon level is expected to take around 60 to 90 minutes, and a complete act can take around three to four and a half hours. A save system also lets you play across multiple sessions, so you do not have to play 4 hours in a row each time. You can just do one dungeon and then save your game for next time.

Grab Your Free Treasure Goblin Expansion

For those who are interested, you can already follow the game on Gamefound. Doing so will reward you with a free Treasure Goblin expansion.

No, you do not have to pay anything for it right now. It just means you will get email updates on the campaign's progress, and if you decide to invest, you will get a free expansion. It does not force you to buy anything.

If you want to see the game in action before the crowdfunding campaign begins, Glass Cannon Unplugged is also presenting a playable demo at SPIEL Essen in Germany from October 22 to 25, 2026. The campaign itself is only launching in Q1 2027, so there is plenty of time until then.
