Overwatch buffs Wrecking Ball after Grappling Claw bug fix

The latest hotfix raises his retract speed limit and lets allied boosts affect it.

Wrecking Ball is getting a really good movement speed buff in the last Overwatch hotfix from November 5.

The change comes just two days after Blizzard fixed an issue with Wrecking Ball's Grappling Claw. At first, there was an issue where the retract controls could increase his rolling movement speed too much, and that interaction was considered a bug. Blizzard removed it.

But this fix also affected Wrecking Ball's movement potential. If you relied on the interaction for faster rotations and engagements, you pretty much lost part of your mobility. And Wrecking Ball players were not happy about that.

But now, the November 5 hotfix changes restore some of that lost speed and also allow allied speed boosts to affect the retract speed limit.

Wrecking Ball Gets More Speed

When you use Grappling Claw with Wrecking Ball, two things will now take effect:

  • The base speed limit for Wrecking Ball while retracting Grappling Claw has been increased by 15%

  • Allied speed boosts now increase the speed limit for Wrecking Ball while retracting Grappling Claw

So, for example, when Lucio uses his speed boost, it should now also affect Wrecking Ball's speed when retracting Grappling Claw.

This does not mean that Blizzard removed the original bug fix. The excessive speed interaction has still been removed, but the new fix just gives Wrecking Ball some additional mobility, without turning it into a massive boost when you retract your Grappling Claw.

Additional Bug Fixes

The November 5 Hotfix also came with a few small bug fixes to Competitive Drives, D.Mon's resurrection bug, and Stadium Scoreboards:

  • Players who did not reach Checkpoint 4 in a previous Competitive Drive should no longer have a signature equipped that they cannot unequip.

  • In a previous update, fixed an issue where pilot D.Mon would be resurrected without ultimate charge, thereby preventing D.Mon from immediately getting back into her mech.

  • Fixed an issue where the Scoreboard and related screens would not display properly.
