Overwatch midseason update buffs Junker Queen and nerfs other heroes
The update also adds new Loot Box events and improves tools to counter disruptive players.

Overwatch's Season 5 midseason patch is now live, bringing multiple new events, a lot of hero balance changes, and improved tools against gameplay sabotage.
The November 3 update also gives you more ways to earn Loot Boxes, including the return of Junkrat's Loot Hunt with Double XP.
The main event is Taking Reign, running from November 3 to December 7. You can complete matches and challenges to earn rewards, and it even has a Premium Event Pass with additional items, including a Legendary Doomfist skin and a Legendary Vendetta weapon skin.
Sadly, the event pass is not free, but it does contain a few free rewards like the normal Battle Passes.
Blizzard has also confirmed that purchased Premium Event Passes can still be completed after the event or season ends.
Events and Drive Signatures
Excavation Initiative
Returns from November 3 to December 7
Rewards include Base, Epic, and Legendary Loot Boxes through weekly login and win challenges
Junkrat's Loot Hunt
Runs from November 19 to 23
Lets you earn Double XP and Loot Boxes by just running matches
OWCS World Finals Cheer Rally
Starts November 24, with additional Cheers available by watching official broadcasts from December 2 to 6.
The update also finally introduces the Drive Signature customisation feature.
Anyone who reaches the fourth checkpoint in the latest Team Drive can equip Signatures and Player Card Frames earned during previous seasons. So yes, sadly, if you have only the first level, you will not be able to customize your signatures, even if you had the 4th level during previous Drives.
More Hero Balance Changes
The midseason patch also includes adjustments across all three roles.
For the Tanks, Junker Queen gets the biggest buff since she receives a health increase and a shorter Carnage cooldown, and Mauga gets more armour and increased burning damage. Ramattra also gains additional ammunition for Void Accelerator.
D.Mon is getting nerfed again....
Her Propulsor loses all its DMG, going from 15 impact damage to 0
Power Barrier recovery increases from 0.2 to 0.3 seconds, and it has a 0.25-second minimum deploy duration
And her Lifesteal is also being reduced from 150% to 125%
According to Blizzard:
Power Barrier’s changes are intended to make deploying the barrier more of a commitment and improve its readability for enemies. Propulsors will retain its knockback while no longer dealing impact damage, reducing Dmon’s burst potential. Overstrike’s lifesteal is also being reduced to limit the total health it can provide.
D.Mon mains are sad to see such a new hero being hit with a nerf bat so often after launch, especially since she already feels less Tanky than some other Tanks...
For Damage Dealers, some heroes have received changes as well. Reaper gets 25 extra health, Genji's Deflect duration drops from two seconds to 1.5, and Anran's DMG is increased from 22 to 24. Vendetta also receives a few nerfs to her Overleap speed and knockback.
And for Supports, Ana's Biotic Grenade deals less explosion damage, Brigitte gets more frequent and better healing from Inspire, and Doctrine and Sombra get a bit nerfed, but nothing big.
A few heroes were also adjusted in Stadium specifically.
Better Sabotage Detection
Outside of the events and hero balance update, Blizzard added that they made changes to their Gameplay Sabotage Detection. This targets players who specifically try to ruin matches on purpose.
Their current detection tools will allow them to more accurately detect players engaging in disruptive behaviors, and they have already taken action against many players detected by these new systems.
Here are a few examples of gameplay sabotage:
Consistently and intentionally failing to contribute to team fights
Repeatedly jumping off the map
Intentionally blocking team progress
You can find all the changes for the November 3 Patch in the official post:

GENERAL UPDATES
Gameplay Sabotage Detection
We’re improving our tools to combat gameplay sabotage in Overwatch. We have made improvements to our current detection tools that allow us to more accurately detect players engaging in disruptive behaviors, and we’ve already taken action against many players detected by these systems. Examples of gameplay sabotage include consistently and intentionally failing to contribute to team fights, repeatedly jumping off the map, and intentionally blocking team progress. We will also continue to iterate on these detection methods so that we can catch even more players who are intentionally making other players’ experiences worse.
As part of this update, we have also rolled out ‘Thank You’ messages for reporting a player for disruptive behaviors. You will see these show up in the game’s Notification Hub if you report a player for disruptive behaviors, and appropriate actions have been taken against them.
HERO UPDATES
TANK
D.Mon
Developer Comments: Power Barrier’s changes are intended to make deploying the barrier more of a commitment and improve its readability for enemies. Propulsors will retain its knockback while no longer dealing impact damage, reducing Dmon’s burst potential. Overstrike’s lifesteal is also being reduced to limit the total health it can provide.
Power Barrier
Recovery increased from 0.2 to 0.3 seconds.
Now has a 0.25 second minimum deploy duration.
Propulsors
Impact damage reduced from 15 to 0.
Overstrike - Major Perk
Lifesteal reduced from 150% to 125%.
Junker Queen
Developer Comments: Junker Queen’s lower health pool can limit her ability to engage when she’s unable to apply Wounds and benefit from their healing. Increasing her base health improves her survivability, while reducing Carnage’s cooldown provides more opportunities to use it when enemies are within range.
Base health increased from 375 to 425.
Base health increased from 450 to 500. (6v6)
Carnage
Cooldown reduced from 9 to 7 seconds.
Commanding Shout
Added a new UI element that tracks allies within range and allies currently affected by Commanding Shout.
Mauga
Developer Comments: Recent changes to Mauga have reduced his overall effectiveness, with his win rate falling below acceptable bounds. Restoring some of his base armor improves his survivability, while increasing his burning damage rewards igniting enemies without placing additional emphasis on enemy Tanks.
Base armor increased from 125 to 150.
Incendiary Chainguns
Burning damage over time increased from 15 to 20.
Ramattra
Developer Comments: Increasing Void Accelerator’s ammo improves Ramattra’s ability to apply sustained pressure at range while outside of Nemesis Form.
Void Accelerator
Ammo increased from 100 to 125.
Winston
Developer Comments: Since Barrier Projector’s cooldown was reduced, Revitalizing Barrier has become more effective due to its increased uptime. We’re slightly reducing its healing output to compensate.
Revitalizing Barrier – Major Perk
Healing per second reduced from 35 to 30.
DAMAGE
Anran
Developer Comments: Removing Inferno Rush’s knockback and ability to hit the same target multiple times limits its effects during a single use. Increasing Zhuque Fans’ damage improves Anran’s effectiveness at longer ranges and provides more opportunities to set up ignitions with her primary fire. Vermillion Ascent’s cast time is also being reduced to allow it to be used more reactively during skirmishes.
Zhuque Fans
Damage increased from 22 to 24.
Inferno Rush
Knockback removed.
Can no longer hit the same target multiple times per use.
Ultimate – Vermillion Ascent
Cast time reduced from 1.2 to 1 second.
Echo
Developer Comments: Aerial Munitions will now also refill ammo, increasing its value and reducing the need to reload immediately after use.
Aerial Munitions – Minor Perk
Now additionally refills ammo on use.
Emre
Developer Comments: Reducing Cyber Frag’s detonation time improves its responsiveness and makes it a more reliable tool for finishing off targets.
In addition, we added some small quality-of-life changes for Emre’s reticle settings for his default (custom) reticle, as well as fixing some minor visual inconsistencies with how these settings were applied to Emre’s default reticle. Nothing has changed about Emre’s in-game reticle, these changes are all regarding the customization settings for his default reticle.
Added Rotation reticle setting for default reticle.
Removed Thickness reticle setting for default reticle.
Fixed visual inconsistency regarding default reticle crosshairs not using Outline Thickness and Outline Shift values.
Updated default reticle preview in Options to more closely reflect in-game reticle.
Cyber Frag
Detonation time reduced from 0.6 to 0.5 seconds.
Genji
Developer Comments: Recent changes to Genji have improved his ability to secure eliminations and enabled a more aggressive playstyle. Reducing Deflect’s duration places greater emphasis on timing while limiting its defensive uptime.
Deflect
Duration reduced from 2 to 1.5 seconds.
Hanzo
Developer Comments: Sonic Disruption will no longer override Sombra’s hacked health packs, preventing either hero from overriding a health pack already controlled by the other.
Sonic Disruption – Major Perk
No longer overrides Sombra’s hacked health packs.
Reaper
Developer Comments: Recent changes to hitboxes and projectile sizes have reduced Reaper’s overall effectiveness. Increasing his base health improves his survivability and helps compensate for these changes.
Base health increased from 275 to 300.
Shion
Developer Comments: Reducing Execution’s starting spread makes it more reliable at close range without requiring a full charge. Satsuriku Spree’s time between movement and firing is also being reduced, allowing Shion to reposition more quickly and reducing the delay between volleys.
Execution
Starting spread reduced from 8.5 to 5.7 degrees.
Satsuriku Spree
Cast time/move time per volley reduced from 0.6 to 0.5 seconds.
Vendetta
Developer Comments: Recent changes have increased Vendetta’s overall lethality. Increasing Palatine Fang’s initial swing delay slows down her attack combinations, while reducing the Overhead leap speed makes her movement easier to track. Whirlwind Dash’s knockback is also being reduced with Raging Storm equipped to limit the repeated displacement from multiple hits.
Palatine Fang
Overhead leap speed reduced from 11 to 9.5.
Initial swing delay increased from 0.15 to 0.2 seconds.
Whirlwind Dash
Raging Storm perk horizontal knockback reduced from 8 to 4.
Support
Ana
Developer Comments: Recent changes increasing Biotic Grenade’s self-healing also increased its burst damage against enemies. We’re separating its damage and healing values to reduce its offensive power while preserving the increased self-healing.
Biotic Grenade
Explosion damage reduced from 90 to 60.
Baptiste
Regenerative Burst
Added a new UI element that tracks allies within range and allies currently affected by Regenerative Burst.
Brigitte
Developer Comments: The addition of instant healing to Inspire has improved Brigitte’s healing output, but has had a limited impact on her ability to sustain herself and allies during fights. Increasing its instant healing and reducing its internal cooldown provides more frequent healing during sustained engagements.
Inspire
Internal cooldown reduced from 1.25 to 1 second.
Instant healing increased from 12 to 15.
Doctrine
Developer Comments: Doctrine’s healing output has remained high relative to the additional utility he provides. Increasing Eternal Sceptre’s Primary Fire recovery time reduces his overall output, while the reduced Infused values lower his burst potential. Increasing the cooldowns of Shrouded Momentum and Infuse places greater emphasis on thoughtful use of both abilities throughout engagements while maintaining their individual power.
Eternal Scepter
Primary Fire recovery time increased from 0.6 to 0.65
Infused Damage reduced from 90 to 80.
Infused Healing reduced from 120 to 110.
Shrouded Momentum
Cooldown increased from 8 to 10 seconds.
Infuse
Cooldown increased from 8 to 9 seconds.
Illari
Developer Comments: Recent projectile size changes have reduced Illari’s overall offensive effectiveness. Reducing Solar Rifle’s Primary Fire charge time places less emphasis on individual shots while increasing her overall damage output, reinforcing her strength as a high-damage Support. Healing Pylon’s output is also being increased to strengthen Illari’s defensive setups when positioned effectively.
Solar Rifle
Time to maximum charge reduced from 0.65 to 0.575.
Healing Pylon
Heal per projectile increased from 40 to 50.
Jetpack Cat
Developer Comments: Jetpack Cat’s survivability has remained strong alongside her high aerial mobility. Reducing her base health limits the survivability and aggression enabled by that mobility while preserving it as a core strength. Frenetic Flight’s acceleration is also being increased to enable faster repositioning, while its reduced fuel regeneration limits how frequently it can be used.
Base health reduced from 225 to 200.
Frenetic Flight
Acceleration increased from 25 to 28 meters per second.
Fuel regeneration rate reduced from 25% to 20% per second.
Sombra
Developer Comments: Hotfix’s duration provided enough uptime that choosing when and who to use it on carried less weight. Reducing its duration places greater emphasis on those decisions while retaining its effectiveness when used well. Cyberspace’s Weaken effect is also being reduced to provide affected enemies with more opportunity to respond. With the recent changes to health pack interactions between Sombra’s Hack and Hanzo’s Sonic Disruption, EMP will now override all enemy effects on health packs to preserve its effectiveness as an Ultimate.
Hotfix
Duration reduced from 12 to 10 seconds.
Cyberspace
Weaken effect reduced from 50% to 40%.
EMP
Now overrides enemy hack effects on health packs.
