Diablo 4 players are skipping Season 15 portals to avoid being sent back to town
The nostalgic dungeons are fun until you are dumped in Gea Kul after completing them.
Diablo 4 Season 15 has pretty cool portals that lead to old Diablo games content. These portals can pop up in the open world when you are doing Helltides or other content, and they open doors to Diablo, Diablo 2, Diablo 3, and even Diablo Immortal dungeons. And it is really good and fun content. Everyone seems to love it because it gives additional things to complete, and for people who played previous games, they bring back so many good memories as well.
But the problem is that when you want to leave, it sends you straight to town instead of back to where you entered, and now people are skipping them entirely.
It also seems like exciting a seasonal portal tends to often send you to Gea Kul specifically, and depending on where you were, you might have a huge trip back. Using the "Leave Dungeon" option does not work either, it will just send you to a nearby town instead of your original location.
That makes the portals a particularly awkward detour, because instead of jumping straight back into Helltides or whatever else you were doing, you have to teleport back and make your way back. And for many, that is enough to make the portals not worth entering in the first place.
Players Are Forced to Skip Good Content
The issue has attracted hundreds of upvotes on Reddit and the official forum, and many described the town teleport as frustrating enough that they now avoid the portals altogether.
What makes this sad is the fact that players do love the content. The portals are one of Season 15's best ways of bringing older Diablo dungeons into the game. The activities themselves are not the problem, but it is what happens when you try to leave them. And what makes it worse is that a similar behavior was already present in previous seasons.
For now, there does not appear to be an official fix or workaround. The only thing you can do is keep reporting it through Blizzard's bug-report forums, and add the note that we just want to return to the location we entered from.
Until we get a fix, you either have to avoid the cool content, or you might finish your nostalgic Diablo trip and discover that your real reward was an unexpected trip to Gea Kul.
And that is super Gea and not Kul...
