Diablo 4 Season 15 just pulled Steam numbers back to expansion levels
The Season 15 spike came within roughly 500 players of Diablo 4's post-expansion Steam peak.
Diablo 4 Season 15 is clearly bringing players back, at least on Steam. If you check the current player count on SteamDB, it is not too far from its all-time Steam peak, so the new season is definitely more popular than Season 14.
The numbers were shared on Reddit, and people pointed out that Season 15 has had more than 20,000 concurrent players compared to last season's peak. Diablo 4's current Steam record stands at 64,518 players, set in May 2026 around the launch of the Lord of Hatred expansion.
That puts Season 15 almost at the same level as an expansion!
Season 15 Came With Nostalgia
There are a few obvious reasons for the spike. Season 15 launched with a ton of content that came from previous games, including a lot of secrets that were announced nowhere, and pushed a lot of players to log back in because it was exciting to finally discover new things (even if they are technically old since they come from previous Diablo games). The season also launched alongside a free weekend, and Diablo 4 was discounted on Steam, so this might also add to it and explain the high number count.
The Steam numbers should not be treated as a perfect measure of how many players are sticking around for the season. Diablo 4 is also available through Battle.net and consoles, meaning this is only one part of the player base anyway.
