Overwatch is making Drives more accessible, but not all rewards carry over
Players can earn Legacy Competitive Points without risking their rank, but some rewards remain exclusive to Competitive.

Overwatch Season 5 is changing how the Drive events work, and Quick Play players are finally getting their own version. The new track offers another way to earn weapon rewards, but it will not include everything available through Competitive. So no, you are not losing your Competitive bonuses.
This was all announced through the Season 5 trailer, and Quick Play Drives will run at the same time as Competitive Drives, so you will have two separate reward tracks to work through. The Quick Play version is shorter and lets you progress without putting your Competitive rank at risk.
Quick Play Has Its Own Rewards
The main reward from Quick Play Drives is Legacy Competitive Points. These can be used to unlock older weapon variants, including Gold, Jade, and Galactic. The current 2026 Crimson Wolf variant still requires regular Competitive Points. Quick Play Drives will not award the seasonal Drive Signature either, so if you want that, you still need to complete the Competitive track.
The good news is that you are not forced to pick just one. Both tracks can be completed during the same event, so you can technically get everything if you have the time to do it.
You Can Also Choose Your Drive Signature
Season 5 is making another change to Drives by letting you select the Drive Signature you want to display. This does involve you unlocked them during previous seasons. You cannot just pick a Drive if you never played competitive and obtained that Drive.
Once you reach Checkpoint 4 of the current Drive, you can choose from the Signatures you have already earned. So if you do not like the current one, you can display a previous Drive on your profile instead.
Quick Play Drives are not here yet, and Blizzard has not confirmed the exact launch date or the full progression requirements, but once they are here, it will be great for players who prefer casual matches but still want some of the older weapon variants. Just do not expect it to replace Competitive entirely if you are after the latest rewards.
