WoW Forever's launch trailer brings back the classic PvP AMV
WARPATH is an animated video with a soundtrack featuring Poppy, Amy Lee, and Courtney LaPlante.
With WoW Forever's launch just around the corner, Blizzard has released WARPATH, an animated music video featuring the familiar rivalry between the Horde and Alliance. The trailer pairs fantasy battles with a heavy metal soundtrack, and the format may feel familiar to anyone who spent time watching WoW PvP videos in the 2000s.
An Amazing Soundtrack
The video is around three and a half minutes long, and it follows adventurers from both factions as they explore Azeroth and fight against their enemies. You can see all the playable races and classes, a ton of action, and even a Skyborne character. And of course, all of this is done with amazing animations.
Yes, indeed, as you probably noticed by now, this is not a traditional cinematic with dialogue. WARPATH pretty much lets the music and animations do the talking.
The result feels a little like the old fan-made PvP videos that people used to share on YouTube in the early 2000s. Every Millennial probably knows these videos. A lot of fighting, cut and pasted together with dramatic transitions and epic music.
The song is "End of You", performed by Poppy, Amy Lee of Evanescence, and Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox. Blizzard produced the video in partnership with Brunch Studio.
The combination is an interesting choice for a game rooted in WoW's Classic era. The music leans into heavier rock and metal, and the video puts the Horde and Alliance rivalry front and centre. It is definitely a different approach compared to the usual gameplay trailer, and one that gives the upcoming launch its own identity.
When Does WoW Forever Launch?
WoW Forever launches on November 4, so it is really getting close now. Are you ready for it?
You will need an active World of Warcraft subscription or active game time to play. Character name reservations are already open as well for those who pre-purchased any of the Skyborne packages. There are a few bugs with the name reservations right now, but you should still manage to create your 3 characters.
WARPATH does not reveal new gameplay features or changes. But it is a unique promotional video, and it definitely hyped us up even more.
If you're looking for something to get you in the mood for the release, it is the perfect trailer to watch.
