Xbox CEO highlights WoW Forever's record-breaking success before launch
Asha Sharma mentioned WoW Forever alongside Minecraft and Call of Duty in her latest business update.

Only two days left before World of Warcraft: Forever launches!
And the success the game is having, even before the launch, is not going unnoticed.
Asha Sharma, the CEO of XBOX, named Minecraft, Call of Duty, and Forever in her latest Xbox business update. WoW Forever has set records during the company's first quarter.
ASHA@asha_shar𝕏In Q1, XBOX revenue declined 2% YoY, compared with a 10% decline a quarter ago, while our accountability margin improved. Minecraft and WoW Forever set records, Call of Duty had its most acclaimed release in more than a decade, and our PC platform revenue grew double digits.…
Having the CEO of XBOX mention WoW Forever is pretty cool. She was also not the only one.
During Microsoft's latest earnings call, CEO Satya Nadella also confirmed that the game had its largest beta in the franchise's history.
And given that Microsoft owns Blizzard Entertainment, players are already wondering if WoW Forever could eventually make its way to Xbox consoles.
Could WoW Forever Eventually Come to Xbox?
Some people would say "hopefully", and others are more of an "I hope it never gets ported to consoles" team.
So far, it is unknown if WoW Forever will ever get released on Xbox or any other console. Sharma did not give any details, and the rest is just based on rumors or speculation from players, so take all of this with a grain of salt.
Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard in 2023, and many have questioned why World of Warcraft has not made the jump to Xbox despite the companies now operating under the same umbrella.
It would not be the first MMO to release on consoles. Final Fantasy XIV runs on PlayStation, Xbox, and now even Switch 2. So it is not impossible to play an MMO on a console. And given that Forever can also be played with a controller already, it is easy to guess why these speculations are currently running.
However, a console version would still come with some challenges. World of Warcraft has a large number of abilities, menus, and interface elements that Blizzard would need to adapt for controller support. They made it work with Foreverer, but Retail would be a much bigger challenge. So there are more chances of getting Forever on Consoles first, before they even think about porting Retail.
There are also players who would rather see WoW remain a PC experience.
But again, keep in mind that none of this is official. No CEO indicated that WoW Forever is coming to Xbox for now.
Sharma's post does not mention a console version, and the fact that she highlighted the game with other Microsoft titles should not be taken as confirmation of anything.
All you need to remember right now is just that WoW Forever has already set records ahead of launch, and the game is among the best-performing games for Microsoft during this Q1.
That is pretty incredible given that the game is not released yet.
