Diablo 4's next patch takes care of multiple annoying Season 15 bugs related to quests

This update also fixes boss encounters and Horadric Cube reroll issues.

Blizzard has released the patch notes for Diablo 4's next update, with patch 3.2.3 scheduled to arrive on October 14, 2026. It is a relatively small update, but it fixes a ton of annoying bugs affecting Season 15, including one that could prevent you from unlocking Prime Evil Powers. So safe to say that this definitely needed a fix.

Season 15 Quest Bug

The problem was that you could use a Splinter of a Prime Evil before completing the seasonal questline. Doing so could break quest progression, preventing affected characters from finishing the questline and accessing Prime Evil Powers. That is not ideal when the entire season relies on these powers.

Sadly, if your character was affected by this, the patch will not fix it for you. Blizzard added a note saying that the update will prevent this bug from happening, but it does not automatically reset quest progress on affected characters. You will need to create a new character in the same realm/partition, and complete the seasonal questline again.

Horadric Cube and Boss Fixes

The update also covers other annoying bugs. You should have an easier time collecting Baal's loot, as Tyrael's spawn location after the fight could previously make items difficult to pick up. Blizzard is also fixing two boss encounter issues:

  • The Sandstone Golem in the Horadric Library could fail to respawn after a player died during the fight

  • The Countess could pass through the fog wall in the Forgotten Tower and prevent encounter progression.

The Horadric Cube is getting some attention, too. This patch fixes a bug that prevented certain affixes from being rerolled, including Impairment Reduction, Barrier Generation, +Healing, and Critical Strike Damage.

And if you play Necromancer, Blizzard finally fixed the issue where some monsters failed to drop Unbroken Bones during the class quest "Call of the Underworld."

The patch also includes various stability, performance, visual, and UI improvements, but there is no additional information on these. You can take a look at the entire patch as well for more details:

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where a character could use a Splinter of a Prime Evil before completing the Seasonal questline. This prevented that character from being able to complete the questline and access Prime Evil Powers.

Developer’s Note: This change prevents this bug from happening but does not reset quest progress on characters who are already bugged. To allow affected characters access to Prime Evil Powers, create a new character in the same partition (Normal/Hardcore and Normal/SSF) and complete the seasonal questline. This unlocks Prime Evil Powers for all characters in that partition.

  • Fixed an issue where Tyrael’s spawn location after defeating Baal could make it difficult to pick up Baal's loot.

  • Fixed an issue where the Sandstone Golem boss in the Horadric Library could fail to respawn if the player dies during the fight.

  • Fixed an issue where the Countess in the Forgotten Tower could pass through the fog wall, preventing boss encounter progression.

  • Fixed an issue where some affixes could not be re-rolled with the Horadric Cube. These include:

    • Impairment Reduction

    • Barrier Generation

    • +Healing

    • Critical Strike Damage

  • Fixed an issue where not all monsters dropped Unbroken Bones during the Necromancer class mechanic quest Call of the Underworld.

  • Various stability, performance, visual, and UI improvements.
