Why does Blizzard keep teasing Diablo and Baal ahead of BlizzCon?
Diablo 4 players are convinced the Prime Evils are coming...

Blizzard teasing Diablo 4 news ahead of BlizzCon is nothing unusual. But Blizzard ANZ repeatedly putting Diablo and Baal together in its social media posts is starting to feel a little too suspicious. BlizzCon 2026 will start in a few days, and the Australian and New Zealand Blizzard account has been dropping posts around the two iconic Prime Evils twice now.
So naturally, Diablo 4 players are starting to wonder if there is something more behind it.
Diablo 4 Expansion or Diablo 1 Remaster?
First, we got Diablo himself: https://x.com/Blizzard_ANZ/status/2091480648783475020?s=20
And then they posted about Baal: https://x.com/Blizzard_ANZ/status/2095119646022119464?s=20
Baal has yet to make his return to Diablo 4, and it is the same for Diablo himself. The Lord of Destruction was absent from the base game and both of Diablo 4's expansions, and the Lord of Terror has somehow still never been properly fought or even introduced in a game called Diablo 4.
That could obviously change at BlizzCon.

The event already has a dedicated Diablo panel scheduled for September 12, so Blizzard has the perfect stage to reveal what is next for the franchise. And at the same time, a lot of players think that we could get a Diablo 1 Remaster or Remake. Teasing Baal and Diablo could both lead to one of these conclusions.
So, is Blizzard teasing the return of the remaining Prime Evils? Could Baal be the next big threat? Could Diablo finally return as an actual boss? Or are these posts simply Blizzard having some fun with two of the franchise's most evil villains?
At this point in time, nothing has been confirmed. But with the Diablo 4 team promising big news at BlizzCon, repeatedly teasing Diablo and Baal specifically feels like a pretty deliberate choice.
And if Blizzard is finally preparing to let us fight Diablo in Diablo 4, it would be hard to think of a better BlizzCon reveal.
