Diablo 4 players found a strange Pit bug involving the Butcher slaughtering you
With the right War Plans upgrade, the Butcher might trigger an achievement even when he kills you and the run fails.
Diablo 4 tends to have strange bugs, and apparently Season 15 is no exception. This time, the Butcher might have something to do with it. Looks like he can award the Pit 150 achievement when he kills you during a run. The trick involves a specific War Plans upgrade, and you need access to Pit 150.
Who Thought Getting Slaughtered by the Butcher Could Grant Achievements
Multiple players talked about it on Reddit when attempting Pit 150 for the first time. You need two things for this.
Select the second node in the middle Pit branch of War Plans, the one that gives the Butcher a chance to appear anywhere in The Pit and allows killing him to complete the run
Push up to Pit 150
So technically, if the Butcher kills a player, the run should fail.
But what happens is that the Butcher shows up, kills players, and prevents the usual Glyphstone from spawning, so in theory, you failed your run. But it also "ends the run" and, for some reason, this seems to trigger the Pit 150 run achievement, counting it as "cleared" even if you did not really clear it.
It is definitely not an isolated incident. So if you are still working toward the Pit 150 achievement, this interaction might be worth knowing about, even if there is no guarantee it will work for everyone.
Do Not Expect This to Work In the Tower
There is an important limitation for anyone hoping to use this interaction to climb the leaderboards. No, it will not work in The Tower. Even if the bug awards an achievement for the Pit, that does not mean the game has registered a legitimate successful clear for leaderboard rankings. Do not expect the Butcher to do your Tower run for you by showing up and killing you a few seconds after you enter.
It is really just an amusing War Plans interaction, and if you are lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you feel about getting ruined by the Butcher...), getting your Pit 150 achievement after being flattened by the Butcher is a pretty memorable way to earn it.
